Ásgeir To Record Straight To Vinyl @ 6PM Tonight!
It’s all happening this evening, and for the next 24 hours for Icelandic artist Ásgeir. At 6pm this evening, Ásgeir will be situated in his Reykjavik studio and ready to perform song requests from fans for 24 hours. The live requests will be recorded on to a lathe vinyl cutter as an acetate.
To help promote this event, Icelandic national television (RÚV) will be involved in this “Straight to Vinyl” project where Ásgeir will record stripped down versions of his music, as well as selected covers directly to 7″ vinyl records during the course of 24 hours. Each vinyl will include handwritten track listing with totally unique recordings that won’t exist anywhere else.
Involvement of the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service (RÚV) will see them broadcast Ásgeir’s live performance as Slow TV (a term used to indicate a marathon due to the duration of this particular live broadcast being shown in its entirety). Furthermore, the live event will be shown on Ásgeir’s YouTube channel worldwide between 6pm (GMT) on July 5th and 6pm (GMT) on July 6th.
To add further intrigue and excitement, once the records have been recorded they will be made available to fans of Ásgeir via an international scavenger hunt in various cities (details of which will be announced at a later date).
To get involved with this live event on social media, use the hashtag #asgeirstraighttovinyl and by commenting on YouTube which songs you would like to see performed and recorded.
